Introduction

The Department of Contracts through its Electronic Public Procurement System is committed to ensuring digital accessibility in compliance with the Web Accessibility Directive (WAD). We are dedicated to providing equal access and opportunities to all users, including those with disabilities.

Accessibility Standards

We have designed the Electronic Public Procurement System with the following accessibility standards in mind, as required by the Web Accessibility Directive (WAD):

EN 301 549: The Electronic Public Procurement System conforms to the European Standard EN 301 549, which specifies accessibility requirements suitable for public procurement of ICT products and services.
Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG): Our system aims to conform to Level AA of the WCAG 2.1 guidelines, which align with the accessibility standards established by the Web Accessibility Directive.

Accessibility Features

To achieve our accessibility goals, we have implemented the following features:

  • Alternative Text: All images and non-text content are provided with alternative text to ensure compatibility with screen readers and assistive technologies.
  • Keyboard Navigation: The Electronic Public Procurement System is fully navigable using a keyboard, ensuring that users can access all features without relying on a mouse.
  • Resizable Text: Users can adjust text size to their preferences, allowing for better readability and flexibility.
  • Consistent Navigation: We maintain a consistent and predictable layout and navigation structure throughout the system.

Ongoing Efforts

We are committed to continuous improvement in ensuring accessibility for all users. Our ongoing efforts include: Regular accessibility audits and testing by individuals with disabilities to identify and address potential issues. Providing accessibility training for our development and content teams to foster awareness and expertise in accessibility best practices. Collaborating with users and stakeholders to gather feedback and address accessibility concerns promptly.
